What offsets projects are not accepted in Green Star Submissions?
Currently offsets associated with the below projects are undergoing investigations by Verra.
Until the outcomes of the investigation are known, the offsets related to the below cannot be used to demonstrate compliance for Green Star and also extends to projects targeting Climate Active Certification through Green Star.
- Kariba REDD+ Project
- Kasigau Corridor REDD Project – Phase I Rukinga Sanctuary
- Kasigau Corridor REDD Project – Phase II The Community Ranches in Kenya; and
- Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project
Please note that the list above is not exhaustive and there may be other offset projects that are subject to investigation. It is the responsibility of the project teams to ensure that the offsets purchased and retired in Green Star submissions are of environmental credibility.
When purchasing offsets GBCA recommends projects team to consider the Property Council of Australia's framework for offsets as outlined in the document - Carbon Offsets, Last but not later - A framework for the environmental integrity of offsets in the property sector and the latest guidance from the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative – the VCMI Claims Code of Practice
