Clarification on the classification of project type for Acoustic Comfort
The GBCA clarifies that for Credit Achievement under the Acoustic Comfort credit from Green Star Buildings v1, the spaces in mixed use projects will need to comply with the acoustic criteria that is most relevant to the function of the space.
In projects where 80% or more of the building's GFA is a single functional use, the whole project may comply with the same acoustic criteria that is most relevant to this dominant functional use. For example, a warehouse project where 80% of the GFA is warehouse space and the remaining area are ancillary office spaces, the acoustic criteria for an industrial project type may be applied to the whole building, inclusive of the office spaces.
However, project teams are encouraged to apply the acoustic criteria depending on the relevant NCC class applicable to the space, as the requirements will be reviewed for the next version of Green Star Buildings.
