Green Star FAQs

FAQ F-00299
Can skylights not over a primary space use a different nominated plane to comply with glare reduction requirements?

Yes, for projects with skylights that are not directly over a primary space, the project may use a nominated plane that is at ground level beneath the skylight, 1.5m from the edge of the skylight in the nearest primary space.

This approach is applicable to the Fixed Shading Devices pathway from Visual Comfort - Glare Reduction (Green Star - Design & As Built or Green Star - Interiors) and Daylight - External Glare Control (Green Star Buildings).

This approach is approved on the basis that skylights are purposed to allow daylight to enter the building, however primary spaces under the skylight will still be required to demonstrate that glare affecting the nominated plane is addressed as per the credit requirements.
