How are Appliances and IT equipment without a MEPS rating treated for the purposes of the 'Energy Credit' in Green Star?

For the purposes of the 'Greenhouse Gas Emissions' credit in Green Star - Design & As-Built and Green Star - Interiors, where Appliances and IT equipment's used on the project, do not have a MEPS ratings, the project team may team use the alternative approach to demonstrate compliance with the credit.

 

Conditional Requirement:

For the conditional requirement to be met for the relevant credit, the project team must demonstrate that the appliance/equipment is an above-average performer, when compared against similar products with the same size and technology, that is no more than 2 years of age in the Australian Market.

15B NatHERS Rating Pathway

The project team may target 1 point for credit criteria 'Appliances and Equipment', provided that the project team supply evidence that the appliances/equipment installed, when compared against similar products with the same size and technology, that is no more than 2 years of age in the Australian Market either have:

  • The lowest energy consumption figure; or
  • Are 20% more efficient than the average of total products.

 

16A PRESCRIPTIVE PATHWAY: NON-RESIDENTIAL FITOUTS

The project team may target 1 point  for credit criteria 'IT Equipment - Energy Rating Label', provided that the project team supply evidence that the computers monitors installed, when compared against similar products with the same size and technology, that is no more than 2 years of age in the Australian Market either have:

  • The lowest energy consumption figure; or
  • Are 20% more efficient than the average of total products.

 

16B PRESCRIPTIVE PATHWAY: RESIDENTIAL FITOUTS
The project team may target 1 point  for credit criteria 'Domestic Appliances and Equipment', provided that the project team supply evidence that the appliances installed, when compared against similar products with the same size and technology, that is no more than 2 years of age in the Australian Market either have:

  • The lowest energy consumption figure; or
  • Are 20% more efficient than the average of total products.

 

Documentation Requirements:

  • A copy of this response in your submission.
  • Manufacturer's declaration that the proposed monitors do not have a MEPS and Energy Rating Label.
  • Documentation evidencing that the proposed monitors, appliances or equipment meet the alternative approaches outlined above.
