Green Star FAQs

FAQ F-00109
Can Green Star be used on a project outside of Australia?

The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) does not normally certify Green Star projects outside of Australia. If you believe your project should be considered as an exception circumstance, please complete an Eligibility query and provide details of your project and why this should be considered for Green Star certification.

Alternatively, we have an agreement with the New Zealand Green Building Council and the Green Building Council South Africa (covering all of Africa) to use our Green Star rating tools in those markets. For projects in these regions, the respective GBC can be contacted via the following websites:

NZGBC: https://www.nzgbc.org.nz/

GBCSA: https://gbcsa.org.za/

For projects in other regions, we advise contacting your local Green Building Council who will be able to provide information on how your project can achieve certification for a rating tool relevant to your local market.

The World Green Building Council Member Directory provides a list of all Green Building Councils and will direct you to the relevant council to contact.
